Signs You Could Be Pregnant

One of the most common signs of pregnancy is a delayed or missed menstrual cycle; however, there are more signs and symptoms that could indicate that you are pregnant. These signs and symptoms may arrive within one week after conception, or they may develop a few weeks after conception or they may not be present at all.

While signs differ from woman to woman and pregnancy to pregnancy, the list below is some of the most common signs and symptoms. If you experience any of the following symptoms, and you have been sexually active, it is important to consider taking a pregnancy test.

  • Delayed or Missed Menstrual Cycle
  • Tender/Swollen Breasts
  • Fatigue/Tiredness
  • Nausea/Morning Sickness
  • Headaches
  • Frequent Urination
  • Food Cravings/Aversions

Taking A Pregnancy Test

A pregnancy test will detect the amount of hCG hormone in your urine to determine if you are pregnant. This pregnancy hormone stands for human chorionic gonadotropin.

When To Take A Pregnancy Test

According to the Mayo Clinic, though home pregnancy tests state they are accurate as early as the first day of a missed period, you will want to wait until after the first day of your missed period to take a pregnancy test. Waiting will give you the most accurate results.

Home Pregnancy Tests

Home pregnancy tests are accurate, but there is still a slight chance for a false positive. You could have taken the test incorrectly or at the wrong time.

Pregnancy Center Tests

Testing at a pregnancy center has two advantages: tests are free and they have staff who will gladly talk with you about your next steps.
